Riverview Wellness Village (RVWV) is a recovery-based housing initiative led by the City of Philadelphia as part of the Parker Administration’s Wellness Ecosystem. The goal: provide people with substance use disorder and histories of homelessness with the time, structure, and support they need to reclaim their lives and move toward long-term recovery.
Located in Northeast Philadelphia, RVWV offers a first-of-its-kind model that combines 12 months of stable housing with on-site access to medical care, behavioral health support, job training, and wellness programming — all designed to address the full range of needs that impact recovery.
Our Role: Acorn and Birch
Gaudenzia operates two of the recovery housing units on campus: Acorn and Birch, together supporting more than 100 residents in early recovery.
As the Recovery House provider, we are responsible for:
Residents at Riverview Wellness Village are referred through the City’s Office of Addiction Services (OAS) and typically enter the program following inpatient treatment. Each resident has the opportunity to stay for up to one year, working toward permanent housing, income, and improved mental and physical health.
Why This Matters
The first year of recovery is one of the most critical — and most fragile. By offering structure, dignity, and opportunity, Gaudenzia at Riverview Wellness Village helps participants navigate the challenges of early recovery while rebuilding life skills and strengthening community connections.
Together with our City and community partners, we’re working to transform what recovery looks like — not just in Philadelphia, but as a model for other cities.
