On March 12, something extraordinary happened.
We gathered at From Adversity to Hope, An Evening of Impact—not just to celebrate resilience but to stand together in a shared commitment: ensuring that hope, healing, and second chances are available to everyone who needs them.
It was a night of powerful stories, deep reflection, and an unwavering call to action. A night where we witnessed firsthand the transformative power of recovery, proving that adversity is never the end of the story—it is the beginning of hope.
Guiding the Evening: Our Mistress of Ceremonies, Pat Ciarrocchi
Emmy Award-winning broadcaster Pat Ciarrocchi, a dedicated Gaudenzia Board Member, led the evening with grace and purpose. Her deep connection to the mission was evident in every introduction, every transition, and every moment that she invited us to listen with open hearts.
Stories That Transformed the Room
Our storytellers—Patrisha Williams, Kim Koslow, Norah Yahya, and Keynote Speaker Jayson Williams—shared raw, unfiltered truths that moved the audience to tears, to reflection, and to action.
- Kim Koslow, a visionary leader in behavioral health, reminded us:
“To anyone still in the dark, there is a light waiting for you. To anyone still fighting a war within, peace is possible. To anyone who feels unseen, unheard, unloved, you’re worthy of a second chance.”
- Norah Yahya, who once walked through Gaudenzia’s doors seeking hope, shared: “When you believe in second chances, you don’t just change one life—you change generations.”
- Patrisha Williams, who was raised in Gaudenzia’s treatment program for women and women with children, spoke of the legacy of resilience that transformed not just her mother’s life, but her own and those of future generations.
- Jayson Williams, NBA All-Star turned recovery advocate, delivered a powerful message: “You can’t treat everybody like a cookie cutter—everybody has a different narrative.”
Each of these stories carried a singular message: recovery is possible, and second chances don’t just change one life—they ripple through families, communities, and generations.
Recognizing Our Keynote Sponsor: ERPHealth

This mission-driven evening would not have been possible without the generous support of ERPHealth, our Keynote Sponsor. As the nation’s largest end-to-end patient engagement and outcomes tracking platform, ERPHealth is revolutionizing the way behavioral healthcare is delivered—ensuring that treatment is personalized, measurable, and designed for lasting impact.
Together, Gaudenzia and ERPHealth are forging pathways to quality care for those most in need, ensuring that no one is left behind on their journey to recovery.
Honoring Leadership & Legacy
Beyond the voices we heard and the generosity of our partners, certain individuals have shaped Gaudenzia’s mission in profound ways.
One of them is Maureen Brennan-Miller, a former Board Chair and longtime supporter, whose leadership and generosity have helped ensure that individuals and families in crisis have access to hope, treatment, and a second chance at life.
To honor her contributions, we presented Maureen with a first-edition signed copy of Gaudenzia, Pride of the Palio—the story of our namesake, Gaudenzia the horse.
In the book, Gaudenzia the horse was doubted by everyone—except Giorgio, who saw her potential and gave her the chance to prove what she was capable of. With that belief and support, she became a champion.
Maureen, like Giorgio, has believed in this organization and the people we serve. Because of her unwavering support, countless lives have been transformed. Maureen, we thank you.
A Living Symbol of Generosity: The Tree of Hope
As the evening unfolded, attendees were invited to participate in something deeply meaningful—The Tree of Hope.
Each guest was asked to write a message of encouragement, dedication, or remembrance and place it on the tree, visually representing the collective strength and generosity of this community.
Because hope is not just something we feel—it’s something we build, together.
Rallying the Room: Turning Inspiration into Action

As the night drew to a close, Carly Meyer Bentley, Board Chair of the Gaudenzia Foundation, stood before the audience and made one final request: to take action.
Through our Rally for Hope segment, attendees were invited to give gifts of impact—tangible contributions that directly support individuals in recovery. These gifts provide:
- Treatment & support services for mothers and their children
- Essential resources for individuals transitioning into stable housing
- Life-saving recovery programs for those who need them most
The energy in the room was palpable. Guests were moved, inspired, and committed to being part of something bigger than themselves.
A Final Word from Dr. Deja Gilbert, President & CEO
In closing, Dr. Deja Gilbert shared her heartfelt gratitude:

“Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this unforgettable event. Your generosity and compassion are making a real difference in the lives of those in need. Together, we are providing hope and healing to countless individuals and families.”
Her message was clear: our work is far from over—but with the continued support of our community, our partners, and our donors, the future is filled with hope.
The Journey Continues: How You Can Make an Impact
