Greetings,
While I wish I could be there in person with all of you to celebrate, I want to send my best wishes and congratulations on the opening of Delaware’s only inpatient treatment facility for pregnant and parenting women in Claymont.
As a nurse and chair of the Behavioral Health Consortium, I strongly advocate with those of you here today for better treatment resources for women and their children in Delaware – a demographic that has been underserved for far too long. Too many women and children are impacted from the disease of substance use disorder. And many are fearful to seek help.
Because of the commitment of Gaudenzia, the Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and the advocacy of so many of you here today, we will continue to make important strides to providing crucial resources for some of the most vulnerable Delawareans. Make no mistake – this partnership and investment in the community will save lives and help restore families.
Gaudenzia has long served our community as a dedicated partner, helping us expand behavioral health treatment services for those who need it most. In doing so, you have helped make Delaware a stronger, healthier state. Thank you for all you have done and for your continued commitment to helping women and children find the resources and recovery services they need right here in Delaware.
Your remarkable commitment to bettering the community serves as a model of care and compassion for others to follow. Thank you and congratulations to you.
Sincerely,
Bethany A. Long-Hall, PhD, RNC, FAAN
Lt. Governor
