#RecoverAtGaudenzia – Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT)

Table of Contents

Gaudenzia provides evidence-based medication-assisted treatment (MAT) as part of our comprehensive approach to treating clients with substance use disorders.

MAT incorporates the use of specific medications proven to help treat SUD and assisting with recovery sustainability. At Gaudenzia, our clients receive a thorough assessment that determines the medication appropriate for the client’s recovery journey – whether it be methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone – and connect them with the appropriate level of treatment.

Research has shown that there are many benefits to clients incorporating MAT in their treatment plans – such as reducing the likelihood of HIV and Hepatitis C infection, increasing the rate of treatment retention and reducing the rate of deaths caused by SUD. According to a Temple University study, the use of MAT correlates with a 50-79% reduction in overdose deaths. MAT is associated with higher treatment completion and retention rates in short-term residential treatment.

Gaudenzia clients can access MAT in all levels of care including residential programming and outpatient settings. We offer MAT in our programs for co-occurring disorders, adult withdrawal management, residential rehab, programs for women with children, and more.
