Nurses Make a Difference
Nurses Month Spotlight: Candice Kolb
It’s Nurses Month, and as the 2022 theme states: “Nurses Make a Difference.” During this time, we’d like to encourage everyone to take a moment to thank all nurses for the vital role they play in the healthcare industry.
Here at Gaudenzia, we have incredible nurses on staff who are dedicated to helping clients navigate some of life’s most challenging circumstances. This week, as part of our ongoing celebration of nurses, we’d like to highlight a few of the wonderful nurses on our team.
Today, the spotlight is on Candice Kolb.

Candice is a Licensed Nurse Practitioner (LNP) at Gaudenzia’s Common Ground addiction treatment program, located in Dauphin County, PA. She’s been with the organization for two years and three months.
We’re so grateful to Candice for taking the time to answer our questions about nursing in the SUD treatment field. Here’s what she had to say:
What Makes Nursing in the SUD Treatment Field Unique?
You get to work with a wide variety of people, from age to background.
What is Your Team at Gaudenzia Like?
The nurses I work with are wonderful. We have become more like family than co-workers.
How Do You Practice Self-Care?
Journaling, getting my nails done, and reading.
What are Your Interests Outside of Work?
Spending time with my husband and children and playing with my dog.
What Advice Would You Give Nurses Looking to Enter the SUD Treatment Field?
Go into it with an open mind. Everyone you work with has a different story that brought them in.
What is the Hardest Part of Your Job, and How Do You Overcome it?
Knowing that we aren’t able to save everyone. I overcome this by reminding myself of all those who have done well.
What is Something Positive You’ve Learned in Your Role That You Weren’t Expecting?
I have learned to use my voice and speak up regarding different issues. When I first started, I was very shy.
