Everything we do at Gaudenzia is driven by a mission – a mission to serve our clients and a mission to serve one another. We’re mindful of that each June when as a nation and an organization we celebrate Pride Month and reflect on the struggles and progress made by the LGBTQ+ community.
Many are unaware of Pride Month’s origin, which honors the Stonewall riots in Greenwich Village where members of the LGBTQ+ community, including many of color, rose in protest against police harassment in June 1969. This three-day uprising blazed the trail for activists across the country for years to come. While there are plenty of victories to celebrate– from expanded federal protections to the legalization of gay marriage in 2015– there is still much work to be done.
That’s why we at Gaudenzia will always remain committed to serving clients of all sexual orientations, while providing our LGBTQ+ employees a supportive and nurturing environment, not just in June but all year round.
