Gaudenzia’s 28th Annual Women and Children’s Conference will take place on November 8-9 at the Best Western Premier’s “The Central Hotel & Conference Center,” located in Harrisburg, PA. The two-day conference will feature four plenary sessions and 12 workshop options from renowned industry experts all working to promote better health outcomes for women and children.

Healthcare professionals, social workers, drug and alcohol treatment professionals, and interested health and children’s service providers are encouraged to attend the event. Session topics will focus on healthcare-related issues impacting women and children, including high-risk pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, substance use disorder, and trauma.

We’re proud to host plenary sessions with keynote speakers Dr. Carlo DiClemente (Tuesday, Nov 8) and Dr. Judith Grisel (Wednesday, Nov 9).

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Carlo DiClemente

Dr. Carlo DiClemente

Dr. DiClemente is a co-developer of The Transtheoretical Model of behavior change, also known as the “Stages of Change,” and the author of numerous scientific publications on motivation and behavior change, including Addiction and Change: How Addictions Develop and Addicted People Recover.

Conference attendees can look forward to a day-one talk by Dr. DiClemente on “Lessons Learned About Mechanism of Addiction and Recovery.”

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Judith Grisel

Dr. Judy Grisel

Day two keynote speaker Dr. Judith Grisel is an internationally recognized behavioral neuroscientist with expertise in pharmacology and genetics whose research focuses on determining root causes of substance use disorder. She is also a professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Bucknell University and author of the New York Times bestseller Never Enough: The Neuroscience and Experience of Addiction.

Dr. Grisel will speak on the topic of “Leveraging Neuroscience to Reduce the Cycle of Addiction in Families and Communities.”

Gaudenzia is also thrilled to host luncheon speakers Dr. Gary Stoner (Tuesday, Nov 8) and Hydeia Broadbent (Wednesday, Nov 9).

Luncheon Speaker: Dr. Gary Stoner

Dr. Gary Stoner

Dr. Stoner is a board-certified obstetrics and gynecology physician and Director of Geisinger’s Women’s Health Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) Program, where he devotes all his efforts towards the care of pregnant women with OUD. Dr. Stoner also lectures widely on the stigma of this topic.

Conference attendees can look forward to a luncheon talk by Dr. Stoner on “The Stigma of OUD in Pregnancy: An Opportunity for the Rebirth of Compassion.”

Luncheon Speaker: Hydeia Broadbent

Day two luncheon speaker Hydeia Broadbent is an esteemed activist and ambassador for HIV/AIDS prevention, awareness, and advocacy. In her two-decades-long career, she has appeared on countless panels at some of the nation’s most prestigious college institutions, including Morehouse School of Medicine, UCLA, and Howard University.

Her luncheon talk, “Overcoming with Hydeia Broadbent: HIV Awareness & Preventative Measures” is sure to be impactful, informative, and inspiring.
