  Course Description
 
 
  First Semester
     
  ENG 163 Rhetorical Patterns of Writing   3 credits    

A course in analytical writing designed for all students. Work will include the
discussion of the writing process, practice in writing expository prose and the
execution of a research paper. The student will be connected to other students
via the web site for exercises.

PSY 100 General Psychology   3 credits

A summary and overview of the field of psychology to include: the scientific study
of human behavior and including abnormal psychology and research issues. Time
will be spent on exploring addictions from various perspectives.

BIB 100 Biblical Literature in Contemporary Context   3 credits

This course will expose the student to the entire bible story of the people of God.
The main components of the course will be: The Creation Theology (discussing
the meaning of Genesis and the Wisdom Literature). The Covenantal People
(featuring Exodus and the Sinai events), Prophetic Theology (analyzing the
socio-political significance of the prophets), the Message of Jesus (discussing
the Gospels, and the developing of church), the Theology of Paul and the
Developing Christian Tradition (thinking through Paul and the other New Testament
documents which include the biblical story).

CSC 230  Contemporary Applications in Computers  3 credits
 

The focus of this course is an introduction to the computer and the basic
application of computer programs/language and usage.

SOC 105 Contemporary Social Problems   3 credits 
Selected social problems such as poverty, ethnic relations, the population explosion
and pollution are examined. How sociological insights can inform Christian value
judgments concerning social structural conditions will be emphasized.
