This 61 credit Associate degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Addiction Studies program is designed as an accelerated learning process. A combination of wrap around and on-line classes will constitute the majority of the course work delivery system.

Semester 1 – General Studies Courses
The first semester will be 20 weeks in length. Four courses will meet 5 weeks each on- ground in a wrap around format. This format will allow the student to carry one, no more than two courses at a time with the intent of not overwhelming the new learner. The following courses will run 5 weeks each: General Psychology; Biblical Literature in Contemporary Context; Learning in Virtual Community and Rhetorical Patterns of Writing. These are excellent courses to initiate the student with in-class learning. The Contemporary Applications in Computers course will meet one week on-ground and 20 weeks on-line. This would offer the student more time to gain competence in learning the information vital for success throughout their academic learning.

Semester 2 – General Studies Courses
The second semester reflects a similar schedule of 20 weeks of study. The following courses would meet 5 weeks each on-ground: Human Growth and Development; Medical Ethics; Intake, Assessment, Screening and Record Keeping; Topics in Biochemistry: Biochemistry of Alcohol and Other Drugs (plus 1 credit lab). The Studies in the Novel and Short Fiction course will meet 20 weeks on-line.

The third and fourth semester will incorporate Saturday classes.

Semester 3 – Addition Concentration Courses
The third semester is 20 weeks as well. Each student will carry one class one evening a week, and one class on-line. The following courses will each meet 5 weeks on-ground: Basic Counseling Skills; Contemporary Social Problems, Human Diversity and Social Interaction; The Role of Faith and Spirituality in the Workplace and Recovery. Co-Occurring Disorders in the Addiction Field and Recovery [pre-requisite: Bib 100]; will meet 20 weeks on-line.

Semester 4 – Addiction Concentration Courses
The fourth semester is 20 weeks of study. The courses and schedules are as follows: Mathematical Ideas; Application of Counseling Skills and Addictive Behaviors;  Crisis Intervention and each student will participate in a work related Internship. The Criminal Justice System and the Substance Abuser course will meet 20 weeks on-line.
