Aftercare and continuing care services are provided for those individuals who have completed an inpatient rehabilitation program. Strong emphasis is placed on responsibility, stability, improved life skills, and the development of a comprehensive support system which includes AA and/or NA. The counseling staff works closely with other community and private agencies and to provide a network of services to meet the client’s needs.

Gaudenzia West Shore Outpatient Services contracts with the Cumberland County Prison to provide drug and alcohol education and treatment within the prison. The New Directions Program is drug and alcohol treatment that includes individual and group counseling. A curriculum has been developed for inmates who participate in substance abuse education groups operating on an eight- week cycle. There is and individualized treatment plan designed to meet each inmate’s issues surrounding substance abuse including verbal and physical abuse, job loss and negative relationships.
