PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
West Chester Outpatient offers substance abuse treatment services to address
the needs of chemically dependent adults and adolescents in Chester County
and provides several outreach services within the community of West Chester.
Emphasis is placed on personal responsibility, the improvement of life
skills and the development
of a support system through 12 step programs such as AA and NA. The clinical
staff work closely with other community and human service agencies to
provide a comprehensive network of services.

CRITERIA
FOR ADMISSION:
-
Must be physically suitable to participate in the therapeutic phases
of the programs.

Every prospective client will undergo a clinical interview conducted
by
trained staff.

A client having a history of psychosis or displays of psychotic behavior
may be referred for additional evaluation prior to admission.

Client fee for service based on ability to pay additional charges for
ancillary services, such as urine testing, will be applied when necessary
POPULATION SERVED:
The population of the Outpatient Program consists of adolescents and adult
substance abusers and/or their families who are residents of Chester County.
Adult Program
The adult program serves individuals age 18 and over. The available services
range from individual and/or group weekly counseling sessions to partial
hospitalization. Services are based on individual needs. Speciality groups
on relapse prevention, gender issues and co-occuring disorders are offered.
Efforts are made to involve family members in the treatment process whenever
possible.
Adolescent Program
Outpatient assessment services, individual and small group counseling
are available to clients ages 12-17. Referrals are made from the juvenile
justice system, the educational system, and social service agencies and
concerned family members. Access to higher levels of care can also be
achieved through an assessment and coordination with funding source and
other treament providers for detox, partial, residential placement, hospitalization,
and halfway house.
