The program is designed to be one to two years in length. The facility is an 8 bed program staffed 24 hours a day. SERVICES: Gaudenzia New View operates as a Therapeutic Community (TC). The TC model is especially suited for work with mentally ill individuals. It is a highly structured environment with daily activities, house rules, and close supervision of residents. Individuals are expected to participate in an active schedule of goal directed activities. The TC model involves different phases of treatment from orientation to re-entry. The purpose of these phases is to move individuals gradually back to the community while they develop and practice the social skills necessary for stable community independent living. Gaudenzia’s TCs for the mentally ill are flexible, allowing the program to accommodate a wide range of levels of functioning while adapting to various changes within each individual. The length of each phase of treatment is established according to individual needs. A counselor will be assigned to each resident for the duration of inpatient treatment. Team meetings are held on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, as appropriate, and include the psychiatrist, counselor, Mental Health case manager and clinical supervisor. Treatment plans are developed individually as per the resident’s need and reviewed at team meetings. Follow up planning begins following the initial assessment and will continue to develop as the resident obtains necessary skills and knowledge. Upon discharge, the resident will be followed for a minimum of 90 days or until he/she can establish stability within the community.
