PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
The Elsie Shenk Outpatient Center provides prevention and drug and alcohol treatment services on an outpatient and intensive outpatient basis to women, pregnant and parenting women and their children residing in Lancaster County in an environment that is safe and empowering.

The Elsie Shenk Outpatient Center is an integral component in the full continuum of care as women transition from various levels of treatment. The Center provides outpatient and intensive outpatient services. Children participate in the prevention program while their mothers are involved in the intensive outpatient program.

Women will continue to focus on established objectives and heal as they maintain sobriety, strengthen parenting skills, improve family and community relationships. Women will enhance their self esteem, establish and maintain healthy boundaries, become assertive, break the cycle of co-dependency patterns of behavior and begin to engage in healthy relationships with their children.

Strong emphasis is placed on responsibility, stability, improved life skills, and the development of a comprehensive support system through AA and/or NA. The counseling staff works closely with other community and private agencies to provide a network of services.
