Program Description:
Gaudenzia at the Women’s Detention Center is a treatment readiness program for female inmates which is funded by the Department of Corrections for Baltimore County. The program serves fifty female inmates who have been assessed and deemed suitable. The primary goal of Gaudenzia’s Treatment Readiness Program is to facilitate the process of having inmates engage into a treatment program upon release. Referrals are made to existing treatment facilities within the communities in which the women plan to return. While incarcerated the clients are involved in Psychoeducational and Cognitive Behavioral groups which focus on substance abuse education, relapse prevention and discharge planning. The clients are engaged in a three phase process, with the length of stay being determined by the length of their sentences. All clients are required to attend weekly AA or NA meetings within the facility.

Services Provided:
• Individual and Group Counseling
• Consultations
• Evaluations for work release and court
• Referrals
• Aftercare/Discharge Planning

Admission Criteria:
The individual has to be a female, incarcerated at the Women’s Detention Center, with a history of substance abuse/dependence. Clients may self-refer or may be identified for services by the Baltimore County Department of Corrections staff or the Judges.
