PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
Common Ground is conveniently located along the picturesque Susquehanna River in Harrisburg, PA. Detoxification is available to those individuals who require this level of care and buprenorphine is available for opiate withdrawl. A medical director provides routine services such as a physical examination upon admission, medical monitoring and prescription medication as appropriate. There is medical care throughout the treatment process and nursing coverage is provided 24 hours a day. Self referrals and walk-ins are accepted 24 hours a day.

The residential short-term program offers an 14 – 90 day inpatient program for chemical dependency and co-occuring disorders. Skilled medical and counseling professionals provide a multi-disciplinary team approach in a drug-free environment. The dedication and expertise found within the treatment team significantly enhances the client’s prognosis for total and successful recovery.

The Common Ground Co-occuring Disorders program offers services to men and women who have been diagnosed as mentally ill and chemically dependent. A social worker provides appropriate support to individuals as they enter and continue through the treatment process. Common Ground contracts with both a board certified psychiatrist and a licensed Ph.D. level psychologist for evaluation services as needed. The psychiatrist evaluates client progress, monitors medication, participates in case reviews and is available for emergencies.

Upon the first week after admission to Common Ground the Family Program begins. A family orientation session is required prior to visitation with the resident and includes an initial family counseling session. Alanon is strongly recommended for family members as an adjunct to the Common Ground Family Program. Our Family Program is designed to educate the family members as well as assist them in identifying how the disease of chemical dependency has individually affected them. This program will facilitate family support of the resident during inpatient treatment period and the aftercare programming. Identification of needs for supportive ancillary services is an integral part of the Family Program.
