Length of Treatment: Any stage of pregnancy through up to a year postpartum.
CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION:
- Pregnant substance abusing women
- Detoxification, if necessary can be arranged
- Pregnant women in need of support to prevent relapse
- Pregnant women affected by the substance abuse of another person
- Women at risk of engaging in substance abuse during pregnancy
- Postpartum parents in need of support to prevent relapse

Program Description:
These services are free, confidential, and open to Erie County residents. Individuals who participate in the Babies First program receive case management, support, and education.
The Babies First case management services help participants gain access to medical care, drug/alcohol treatment, counseling, housing, employment, and other community services. The Babies First case manager provides in-home services to make them accessible to individuals who may not have reliable transportation or childcare.
The education services provide information about healthy pregnancy practices, preparation for labor and delivery, caring for the baby, and information regarding the risks associated with chemical use during and after pregnancy.
The Babies First program supports the participants by teaching healthy ways to manage stress and anxiety during prenatal and postpartum visits. Follow-up care is provided to monitor the participants transition from the services.
