This course gives the experienced counselor a broader understanding of group dynamics, staff’s role in group, and counseling techniques for group therapy. In addition to lecture and written material, this course uses group exercises to increase knowledge and skill.

Course Goals Include:

  • Understanding the roles played by group members and how to address each role;
  • Recognizing various types of groups and understanding when to use each type;
  • Teaching the importance of a strong group leader and when, why and how the leader should intervene;
