An experimental course designed to heighten the treatment professional’s awareness of his/her own cultural framework through which he/she relates to clients. While role playing a variety of treatment situations with different types of clients, the participant identifies his/her own attitudes, beliefs and biases, and recognizes the impact on the client.

Course Goals Include:

• Developing an understanding of the impact of culture on behavior;
• Learning to recognize the difference between culturally dictated behavior and dysfuncational behavior;
• Understanding how cultural impacts on interactions;
• Aiding the treatment professional in identifying his/her own cultural framework and preventing its independence.
